Pizza that stays fresh for 3 years… sounds like college

Pizza has been one of the most highly requested items for MREs by soldiers. The said up until now it was impossible due to the high moisture content. This article flooded me with memories of watching people eat pizza that had been out for 24 hours + back in college. What about high school cafeteria pizza? Surely, it could have lasted a measly 3 years. There is some special magic going on in high school cafeterias across the country.  One time I saw a kid eat a high school cafeteria chicken nugget on a Monday afternoon that they had found on the ground. The last time nuggets were served was the Thursday prior to that.

Cosplay in the Crescent City -Reposted 6/22/2014

Note: This is spoiler for images of this weeks Heroes of Cosplay. I was at this convention in New Orleans, LA.

Yaya Han from Heroes of Cosplay

Cosplay in the Crescent City

This was her exhibition in-between the singles and group contest.
Her craftsmanship is totally Batman (Batman is the new word for awesome)

Heroes of Cosplay was being filmed at the Wizard World Comic Con in New Orleans, LA. Other stars of the show were there, including Holly Conrad, Chloe Dykstra, Jessica Merizan, Riki LeCotey, and

Dwarven Thunder!!!!

as portrayed by Jesse Lagers. This guy does amazingly detailed work and I feel like he gets shafted at each competition.

Jesse Lagers. Becky Young, Victoria Schmidt, and Monika Lee were not present to my knowledge. Holly, Chloe, and Jessica were still in NOLA as of yesterday, I wish I would have stayed to meet them.

Due to the filming the costume contest ran really long. I also feel like many of the usual cosplayers were intimidated and did not enter.

I originally tried uploading this gif to Tumblr, but had no luck. Anyone have any ideas why it would not work?

Wizard World Comic Con NOLA 2014 – Doctor Who

12 02 2014

So last weekend I went to my 2nd Wizard World Comic Con in New Orleans, LA.   The convention was really crowded on Saturday.

Matt Smith "The Doctor"

Wizard World New Orleans seemed to have tripled in size, all thanks to Matt Smith aka the last Doctor Who.

I would say it had 3 to 4 times the population that it had the previous year. The increase in traffic could have been attributed to the filming of Heroes of Cosplay, but I would say that Matt Smith had the highest impact.  His Q and A session was held in the New Orleans convention center theater, which holds about 4,000 people.  The normal meeting halls that host Q and A sessions hold about 300 people.  His Q and A session was packed, so he had over 10x the participation compared to the other Q and A sessions– even versus the likes of “The Walking Dead” star Norman Reedus (who is cool as hell).

I actually just started watching Doctor Who the week before this event. I had tried to watch it, but could not get into it. I gave it another chance and became addicted. I still have not gotten to Matt Smith’s Doctor, but each and every episode has gotten better and better. I though there was no way that I would like David Tennant after Chris Eccleston, but I did. After Matt’s performance at Wizard World, I really look forward to getting to his episodes.IMG_2231 IMG_2230 IMG_2221 IMG_2222
After The Doctor left the con became much more intimate
