BP5 RILS Animoto Revisted

6 10 2012

After playing around with Animoto

Animoto is possibly the easiest video production software on the market.

Animoto is a great web tool that enables users to create powerful presentations quickly and easily.

Usability:

Animoto makes you feel like you graduated from Hogwart’s

The tool is very user friendly. Even the most novice computer user should be able to work Animoto. It is totally unicorn magical, it makes your videos look super pro. It times the transitions to the tempo of the music that you have selected.

Navigation:

The Navigation is very user friendly. It is intuitive with a “do exactly what it says it does” menu system.

Content

There are 4 Different Animoto packages: Lite, Plus, Pro, and Reseller.

Package Video Length Styles Music tracks HD Price
Lite 30 seconds 28 60+ tracks No FREE
Plus Full Length 28 600+ NO $30/year
Pro Full Length 36 1000+ YES $249/year
Reseller Full Length 36+ 1000+ YES $499/year

The Plus version also adds the ability to download the video.

The Pro version adds the ability to produce videos in High Definition and a license to sell the videos produced to a consumer. Videos are unbranded, meaning that they do not have an Animoto logo.

The Reseller version includes additional styles.  The videos you produce under this plan are licensed for commercial use. This allows you to sell the products produced to other businesses.

Earn FREE time on Animoto by referring users Why are you mousing over this?

The free version limits your videos to 30 seconds in length. You can subscribe for $5 a month as I stated in my earlier post. There is a better pricing option of $30 a year, which is really reasonable. There is also a way to earn free service for referring users. For every user who purchases a paid account, you will get 2 free months of service and they get 20% off of their price.  Here is my referral link.

Audience

This is a great tool for ages 12+. I will be using it in my 10th to 12th grade Human Anatomy and Physiology class.

Privacy Options and Security

All videos on Animoto are completely private unless you share the link to them. According to Google diagnostics, as of 10/6/2012, Animoto has not hosted any malware and is not listed as suspicious.
